Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (January 27, 1756 - December 5, 1791) was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era. He composed over 600 works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of Mozart's death. The circumstances of his early death, at the age of 35, have been much mythologized. He is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers, and his influence on subsequent Western art music is profound. Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Marquise de Pompadour, also known as Madame de Pompadour (December 29, 1721 - April 15, 1764) was a member of the French court, official chief mistress of Louis XV and a patron of the arts and a champion of French pride.
