Elijah McCoy, Canadian Inventor

Elijah McCoy (1844 - 1929) was a Canadian inventor and engineer of African-American descent. In 1872, he invented an automatic lubricator for oiling the steam engines of locomotives (US Patent 129,843) enabling them to run faster with less need to stop for lubrication and maintenance. No photographer credited, 1913 (cropped and cleaned).
