Jacques Necker was a politician and merchant during the 18th Century, born in Geneva on the 30th September 1732, and died in Coppet (Switzerland) on the 9th April 1804. Necker was tasked with control over the finances of the monarchy during three separate points in his career under King Louis XVI: in 1776, 1788 and 1789. He was the father of Germaine Necker, baroness of Staël-Holstein (1766-1817), known as Mme de Staël, a famous writer. 19th Century engraving.
