Israel, Jerusalem-Via Dolorosa-Ninth Station Of The Cross

The Via Dolorosa (Latin for "Way of Suffering") is a street within the Old City of Jerusalem, where according to tradition Jesus walked, carrying the cross, on the way to his crucifixion. There are 14 Stations of the Cross along the route, which ends inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. At the Ninth Station of the Cross, a Roman pillar, embedded in the wall to the right and signified by a black disc, marks the site of Jesus' third fall. The entrance to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre is seen in the background.
