Hamilton during her time as lead Apollo flight software designer. Margaret Heafield Hamilton (born August 17, 1936) is an American computer scientist, systems engineer, and business owner. In 2016, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama for her work leading the development of on-board flight software for NASA's Apollo Moon missions.
