"The Divine Comedy", Inferno: Judecca and the Center of Hell

Amos Nattini (1892-1985), "The Divine Comedy" by Dante Alighieri (1265-1321). Inferno, Canto XXXIV, Circle 9, Round 4, Judecca (Giudecca), and the Center of Hell. The sinners are fully encapsulated in ice. The three supreme traitors of the Church and the Empire (Judas, Brutus and Cassius) are eaten by Lucifer, who has 3 mouths.. private collection.. In 1921, for Dante Aligheri's 600th anniversary of death, the Istituto Nazionale Dantesco chose Amos Nattini to illustrate The Divine Comedy. The illustrations have been published in 1923.
