UMBERTO III OF SAVOIA

UMBERTO III of Savoy called the Blessed (4 August 1136 - 4 March 1189), Count of Savoy and Count of Aosta and Moriana from 1148. Son of Amedeo III, he succeeded him to the throne with the title of Umberto III. His figure became legendary over the centuries, especially due to the fervent faith to which he was attached, which earned him the beatification in 1838 by Gregory XVI with recurrence on 4 March (Dies Natalis, birth to heaven). Fresco in a small vault of the side aisle of the Basilica of San Michele Maggiore in Pavia, after the restoration of the 19th century.
