This species of Phronima, an amphipod crustacean, has hollowed out and deposited eggs within the body of a salp. The adult remains with and guards over the eggs until well after thay hatch, as in this image. This individual was collected between 200 and 400 meters depth in the Gulf of Mexico, 2007.
