Vase with Peony Scrolls, Yuan dynasty (1271–1368), mid-14th century, China, Porcelain with molded decoration under celadon glaze (Longquan ware), H. 19 1/2 in. (49.5 cm); Diam. 11 in. (27.9 cm), Ceramics, Developed at the Longquan kilns in the late thirteenth century, this type of vase was produced there well into the Ming dynasty (1368–1644). The decoration of molded peonies is an innovation of these kilns, and is frequently found on works produced there in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries.
