Chamberlain (1836-1914) served in the cabinet as President of the Board of Trade and later as Secretary of State for the Colonies, an office he held at the time of the Boer War. He was the father of (Joseph) Austen Chamberlain (1863-1903) and (Arthur) Neville Chamberlain (1869-1940).
