Fred Griffith, British Microbiologist

Fred Griffith (1879-1941). British microbiologist and epidemiologist Frederick Griffith with his dog. Griffith specialized in the epidemiology and pathology of infectious disease. By 1927 he had developed what is known as Griffiths Experiment - one of the first experiments suggesting that bacteria are capable of transferring genetic information through a process known as transformation. And in 1928 reported the first widely accepted demonstrations of bacterial transformation, showing that bacteria can change their form and function.
