It is one of the 50 fundamental herbs of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the only plant that produces cannabinoids (approximately 40 of them) which have numerous well-documented beneficial effects: stimulation of hunger in chemotherapy and AIDS patients, decrease of intraocular pressure, analgesic, antispasmodic, antibacterial and expectorant. It is also a potential treatment for Alzheimer's disease, Myasthenia Gravis, multiple sclerosis, gastrointestinal illness, depression and glaucoma.
