Gustav Theodor Fechner, German psychologist

Gustav Theodor Fechner (1801-1887), German philosopher, psychologist and physicist. Fechner earned his degree in biological sciences in 1822 at the University of Leipzig and taught there until his death. He was also appointed professor of physics. He founded the study of psychophysics, with his discoveries and works including the Weber-Fechner law and the Fechner colour effect. His key work was 'Elemente der Psychophysik' (1860).
