Queen Mother Flies Eight Miles Up In Comet -- The Queen Mother smilingly comments to the Marquess of Salisbury on the view of Italy seen as the Comet flew at 500 miles an hour nearly eight miles up. The Queen Mother and Princess Margaret flew over the Continent in a Comet jet airliner of B.C.A.C. to-day (Friday). This picture was taken by Sir miles Thomas, Chairman of British Overseas Airways Corporation, during the flight. The Royal passengers took off at Hatfield, Herfordshire, after inspecting the De Havilland factory where the Comets are built, and flew over the Alps and many French towns, including Marsseilles, Bordeaux and Nantas, landing at Hatfield nearly four hours later.
