Gutenberg is the inventor of the movable-type printing press. Liquid metal is poured into small molds. The metal cools and hardens in separate blocks, each with a different raised letter or character on it.. These blocks of characters are laid side by side to form words, lines, and finally an entire page. The page is held in place by a frame, set under the press, and the characters are coated in ink. A sheet of paper is placed on the frame and the press is put into motion. A page is printed, and if one lays a new sheet on the frame, an identical page can be printed. As for the movable letters, they can easily be rearranged to print other words and pages.
