Benjamin Banneker, Almanac,1795

Benjamin Banneker (1731 - 1806) was an African-American scientist, surveyor, and almanac author. He had little formal education and was largely self-taught. In the early 1790s, he compiled and published his Almanac. Shown here is a title page woodcut of Banneker (the more common spelling of his name) from 1794.
