The family farm is powered by a series of windmills and solar panels. It also has water piped in, a rarity in the country. Thanks to William Kamkwamba's windmills, towering over the village of Wimbe, Malawi, it is one bright spot in a huge swathe of rural darkness each night. William Kamkwamba, now 22, brought power to his family's valley. William's early windmill still stands on the family farm. (Credit Image: © The Toronto Star/ZUMApress.com). 03/12/2009
