Historical Geography. 1900. India. Lamaist priests of Sikkim and their wondrous robes.

Historical Geography. 1900. India. Talung Monastery is the most sacred in all Sikkim, being packed with objects of veneration and antiquity. To this foundation these two Lamas belong, and the one on the left is wearing the rugen, a complicated adornment of apron and circlet, beautifully carved but gruesome in origin, for it is made from uman bones. The cloak and hat of the other are of great age and value.
