While Tiffany was famous for his Aesthetic-style interiors, this highly finished design for a Renaissance Revival interior shows his ability in other modes as well. Here, he presents a fully coordinated environment: note how the salmon color of the coffers is picked up in the strapwork-patterned wall covering, the leaded-glass windows, and even the lozenge border of the carpet. The windows, with their scroll-and-leaf motif, bear a resemblance to those Tiffany designed for the H.O. Havemeyer residence. The lower wainscoting has an Asian fret motif that recurs in other Tiffany designs.
