'A view of Marciana'. JOURNAL of a Tour through the Island of Elba, 26 Apr.-5 May 1789, by Sir Richard Colt Hoare, 2nd Bart., of Stourhead, the Wiltshire antiquary and archaeologist, preceded by a map of the island and followed by thirty-two sepia wash sketches, the latter (except nos. 1, 14) being described and signed by Hoare on the back. The volume was written in 1793 and was published in 1814. illustrated with Views drawn from Nature by Sir Richard Colt Hoare, Bart., and John Smith, seven of the drawings (viz. nos. 1, 5, 3, 14, 6, 28, 26) being engraved (often with much modification) as illustrations (pls. 1-6, 8); sketch no. 16 may have served as the basis for pl. 7.
