Spain, Galicia, Lugo province, Viveiro. Carlos V Gate. One of the five gates of the city walls. Its construction dates from 1548. Built by Pedro Pedroso in Spanish Plateresque style. Two shields were sculpted on one side of the gate: Lion with Royal Crown on the bridge and five goblets representing five churches in the city. In the centre, coat of arms of Carlos V.
