Manuel Azana elected as president of Spain 10th May 1936.

Manuel Azana (1880 - 1940); Spanish politician elected as president of Spain 10th May 1936. He served as Prime Minister of the Second Spanish Republic (1931-1933 and 1936) and was the last President of the Republic (1936-1939). When the Cortes met in April, it removed President Alcala-Zamora from office. On 10 May 1936, Azana was elected President of the Republic.
