The photograph was made at Nanking, former Chinese capital, now in the hands of the Japanese. Anm. I Matsui, 1878-1948, japansk general, befälhavare för de japanska styrkorna i Kina. Dömd till döden 1948 som ansvarig för massakern i Nanjing. Nankingmassakern 1937 - staden blev ett av de första målen när det japansk-kinesiska kriget inleddes i augusti 1937.
