The "Orcades" is the biggest merchant ship in the world to be launched since the war, and has been built for the Australian trade at a cost of £3,000,000. It will carry over 1,500 passengers and 608 crew. The picture shows tugs fussing round the ship to take her out to the fitting out yards after the launch. October 15, 1947.
