Scottish Home Guards' Commando Training - Unarmed Combat. Home Guards attacking a man from the rear and cutting his throat. Home Guards from Dundee and Angus recently spent a week with the Commandos, undergoing a special course at a Commando Depot. They went through all the latest methods of Commando training and when they left were well up in all the tricks of assault tactics. The course was a tough one and included "Battle Inoculation" use of the toggle rope map reading unarmed combat, field craft, route marches, boating, and a 36 hours exercise during which they bivouaced in the open Country for one night. August 03, 1943. (Photo by British Official Photograph).
