Mantle (Powhatan's Mantle), 17th century. Decorated leather hanging made from four white-tailed deer hides sewn together with sinew thread. The shell beadwork decoration consists of a central standing human figure flanked by two upright quadrupeds and surrounded by 34 discs. Dimensions: length: 235 cm max.width: 160 cm max.
