Louis Agassiz, Swiss-American Naturalist

Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz (May 28, 1807 - December 14, 1873) was a Swiss-born, American naturalist, paleontologist, zoologist, and geologist. He was the first to propose the ice age theory, and is known as the "Father of Glaciology." He was a founding member of the National Academy of Sciences and an appointed regent of the Smithsonian Institution.
