Messier 81, also known as NGC 3031 or Bode's Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major. M81 is the brightest member of the nearby galactic group called the M81 group. The immense cloud shows distinct tidal bridges which appear to connect the three dominant companion galaxies to M81.
