Sword from a foot troop officer. French Second Empire. Private collection. Hilt in engraved iron, polished. Guard with five branches engraved with leaves. Curved crossguard. Straight blade, gilded and engraved. On one of its sides: 'N' under imperial crown, war trophies and leaves, surrounding the inscription 'Prospere Procede et Regna', on the other side: imperial eagle, war trophies and leaves surrounding the inscription 'Viriliter Age'. Sheath in sheet iron, engraved with laurel and oak leaves. Sword that was given to the imperial prince Eugène Louis Napoléon Bonaparte by the bonapartist party on his 21st birthday.
