Corpse of Joseph Goebbels

The burnt corpse of Joseph Goebbels. The Reich Minister of Propaganda killed himself, his six children and his wife Magda shortly before the capitulation on the 1st of May in 1945 with a gun and poison. The corpses were doused with benzine and burnt by his adjutant, but could be identified by the Soviets. Goebbels, one of the first 12 National Socialists who entered the Reichstag in May 1928, became Reich Minister of Propaganda on the 14th of March in 1933 after the coming into power of the Nazis in January 1933. He was responsible for the book burnings in 1933, organised the boykott of Jews and journalistically prepared the "Kristallnacht" on the 10th of November in 1938. He called out for the total war in his dreaded speech in Berlin in February 1943. He was born on the 29th of October in 1897 in Rheydt. 30/04/1945
