Westminster Hall, London, 1900. Interior of Westminster Hall, Houses of Parliament. Originally a Norman building, constructed between 1097-1099, Westminster Hall was rebuilt in the 1390s. The building has hosted a range of events over the centuries, including the trial of King Charles I and the coronation banquet of King George IV. It is also used for lyings-in-state of members of the Royal Family and, on rare occasions, great public figures, prior to state funerals. It is the oldest extant building on the Palace of Westminster site.
