Wedding vows were interpreted in sign language for a deaf and dumb couple married in Sydney yesterday. The couple are Mr. and Mrs. W. Horley (above), who were married at St. David's Church, Haberfield. Deaf and Dumb Society welfare officer W. E. Engel (left) interpreted the service for them. The bride was formerly Miss Neta Madden, 20, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Madden of Summer Hill. Before her marriage she worked as a dress designer and cutter. She became deaf at two months, following: a serious illness. Her husband, who has been deaf since childhood, is a motor body builder. April 06, 1954.
