Isle de Jean Charles, Louisiana

The only road on the Isle de Jean Charles in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana is flooded from the storm surge of Hurricane Ike. The Isle has been losing land to the Gulf of Mexico for over twenty years, and is rapidly being cut off from nearby Pointe aux Chenes. Many of the residents are members of the Houma tribe of native American Indians.
