Pruriginous impetigo following varicella. Prurigo is an itchy eruption on the skin and impetigo is a bacterial skin infection. The two together present as a red itchy contagious skin rash. The notes on the illustration indicate the condition may have erupted following the viral infection varicella (chicken pox) or perhaps the varicella vaccine. Chromolithograph, 1878-1888. Illustration by E. Burgess after R. W. Sherwin, Mabel Green and Jonathan Hutchinson.
