Metacentric Height in Torque Stability

The metacentric height is the distance between the center of gravity and the metacenter of a floating body, as of a vessel. When a vessel lists the center of buoyancy moves off centerline. The center of gravity remains on centerline. The Metacentric height of the ship plays an important role in setting the loading capacity and stability of the ship.
