Napoleon divorced his first wife, Josephine de Beauharnais, because she was unable to produce an heir. Engraving by Mme. Lessueur after Alphonse Testard. Napoleon II was styled the King of Rome at birth, and later Duke of Reichstaedt. He breifly succeeded his father on the throne.
