Namdae-mun, the Great South Gate

Officially known as the Sung-nye-mun Gate, the Nam-dae-mun Gate is one of the Eight Gates in the Fortress Wall of Seoul, South Korea, which surrounded the city in the Joseon dynasty. It is one of the oldest structures extant in Seoul, a typical representation of the Yi architecture. Built in 1395, when King Taejo began to build his Seoul City Wall. It is known for the historic 24-hour Namdaemun Market next to the gate.
