The capture of Fort Ticonderoga, May 10, 1775. An incident during the first months of the American Revolutionary War when a small force of American patriots led by Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold surprised and took possession of the fort and its British garrison. The engraving shows Ethan Allen demanding the surrender of the fort from Captain William Delaplace, the British commander. No man from either side was killed in the action.
