Flint fields are boulders of flint. They are partly redeposited weathering residues of flint-bearing limestones, mostly from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. On the island of Rügen, flint fields extend between Mukran and Prora in the northern part of the Schmalen Heide. They are also called the Stony Sea.
