The box has a forged lock, hinges and handle. The lid and the inside are engraved with, among other things, the coat of arms of Amsterdam. It is an Amsterdam weight (of 2 pounds), which was 5 percent heavier than the Leiden weight. The outside is decorated and has a rim with ridges and circles at the top, ridges in the middle and alternating semicircles at the bottom with triangles, 1878.
