Widely regarded as one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th century, he was also an officer in the British Army, a historian, a writer, and an artist. He took the lead in warning about Nazi Germany and his steadfast refusal to consider defeat, surrender, or a compromise peace helped secure British resistance. He is the only British Prime Minister to have received the Nobel Prize in Literature, and was the first person to be made an honorary citizen of the US. Churchill is widely regarded as being among the most influential people in British history. Wilhelm II or William II (January 27, 1859 - June 4, 1941) was the last German Kaiser and King of Prussia, ruling the German Empire and the Kingdom of Prussia from 1888 to 1918. His support for Austria-Hungary in the crisis of 1914 that led to WWI. An ineffective war leader, he lost the support of the army, abdicated in 1918, and fled to exile in the Netherlands where he died in 1941 at the age of 82.
