The scene begins on the parade ground of the Foro Bonaparte in the Castle of Milan. In the centre appears the Viceroy Eugène de Beauharnais (1781-1824), followed by the officers of his General Staff. Behind him a formation of Royal Guards of Honour. The parade is opened by the officer and the two trumpets of the Dragoons of the Royal Guard, followed by the troops: the regiments Dragoni Regina, Dragoni Napoleone and the Artillery of the Royal Guard escorting the cannons towed by the Artillery Train of the Guard.
