Gabriel Cramer, Swiss Mathematician

Gabriel Cramer (1704-1752), Swiss mathematician. Cramer was a professor at the University of Geneva. His best-known work was his treatise on algebraic curves, published in 1750. Two mathematical concepts are named after him, Cramer's rule and Cramer's paradox, both to do with curves and algebraic equations. This artwork, engraved by Mackenzie, is from a collection of artworks dating from the 16th century to the early 20th century.
