Javanese script. John Crawfurd, History of the Indian Archipelago.

The Javanese script, natively known as Aksara Jawa (lit. 'the script of Java'), Hanacaraka, or Carakan, is a pre-colonial script used to write Javanese and several other native languages of Indonesia. It is closely related to the Balinese script. In everyday use, Javanese script has been almost entirely supplanted by Latin script which was introduced by the Dutch during the 19th century.
