Japan: Lady Yodo Dono (1567 - 4 June 1615), second wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and mother of Toyotomi Hideyori. Hanging scroll painting, 17th century.. Yodo-dono or Yodogimi, also known as Lady Chacha, was the concubine and second wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who was by the end of the 16th century the most powerful man in Japan. She was also the mother of his successor, Hideyori. Hideyoshi died in 1598 and the Toyotomi clan lost much of its influence and importance. Yodo-dono and Hideyori committed suicide after the Siege of Osaka Castle in 1614-1615 by Tokugawa Ieyasu, ending the Toyotomi line.
