Operation Teapot, "Survival Town", 1955

Testing effects of nuclear blast 1955. Operation Teapot was a series of fourteen nuclear test explosions conducted at the Nevada Test Site in the first half of 1955. The aims of the operation were to establish military tactics for ground forces on a nuclear battlefield and to improve the nuclear weapons used for strategic delivery. An assortment of buildings, including residential houses and electrical substations, were constructed at the site nicknamed "Survival Town". The buildings set at varying distances from the blasts to test the impact and effects of the explosions. The homes were populated by 1950's mannequin families, dressed in outfits., and placed in various rooms in the house.
