Benham's Disk (Benham's Top) a top painted with the pattern shown. When the disk is spun, arcs of pale colour, called Fechner colours (or pattern-induced flicker colours (PIFCs), are visible at different places on the disk. Not everyone sees the same colours. Created by Charles Benham (1860-1929) an English newspaper-man and toymaker. Dated 19th Century.
