Photo: Aguilera.-la alcazaba It is one of the most significant buildings in Malaga. It is a building from the Islamic period built on a small hill at the eastern end of the city. According to Arab Sources, it was built by Badis, King Ziri of Granada, between 1057 and 1063, although it is possible that an earlier building was erected in that same place. The work was carried out with ashlars of nummulite limestone, extracted from quarries close to the sea. This fossiliferous stone, easily decomposed by humidity, forced important repairs already at the end of the 13th century or the beginning of the 14th century.
