Extinct Giant Salamander

Skeleton of an extinct giant salamander (Andrias scheuchzeri), found in a block of Tertiary Period limestone near Oeningen, Switzerland, in 1725.  It was initially thought to be the skeleton of a man that had drowned during the biblical Flood.  Illustration from Louis Figuier's The World Before the Deluge, 1867 American edition.
