BLACK MAGIC. Aquatint engraving by Read of a drawing by Fussell depicting a magician standing before a magic circle within which is an elaborate circular mirror or lens, from which emerges a conjured angel (presumably Raphael). Behind the mirror are a number of demons and monsters, and in the air angelic beings. Outside the circle (marked with the magical angel-name, Sabaoth) there are the four Elements - the Water (sea), Air, Earth, and Fire (the burning brazier at the feet of the magician.
